The Macrohard Company has determined that it is necessary
to reduce the number of sales representatives on the staff.
Rather than deciding which sales representatives will be fired
on the basis of seniority, the company plans to fire the least
effective sales representatives first.
＜日本語訳＞
マクロハード社は、訪問販売員の数を減らす必要があると決断した。
年齢の高い販売員を解雇する代わりに、マクロハード社は、まず最も
有能でない（最も能力の低い）販売員から解雇することを計画している。

マクロハード社のプランには、どのような前提、勝手な決めつけがあるか。
＜風太郎の解説＞
Assumption Quesitonでは、「著者の主観的な判断」に注目するのがコツです。
「the least effective （最も能力の低い）販売員からfire（解雇する）ことを
計画している」
と書かれていますが、ここで皆さんが考えなくてはいけないのは
「販売員の能力の判定なんて、そんな簡単にできるのかな？」
と疑うことなんです。つまり、主観的な形容詞"effective"という
単語に遭遇した時に、「販売員がeffectiveかどうかなんていう判断が
客観的にできるのだろうか？」と疑念を持てることが重要です。
つまり、マクロハード社は
「販売員の能力は判断可能である」という前提を基にして、
この議論、提案を展開しているわけです。
このような「著者の前提、勝手な決めつけ」のことを、英語では
Assumption と呼びます。そして、このAssumpttionが答えとして、
下の５つの選択肢のどれかにくるのが、Assumption Question
という問題タイプです。
それでは、下の５つの選択肢から、答えを選んでください。

Definition Assumptionと呼びます。
